Game + Game = Game

PRO SKILLS + PRO APPLICATION=
PRO
A Pro with consistent quality application is an All-Pro
An All-Pro with consistent quality application is a Hall-of-Famer
The first prerequisite for being able to “play” is to have the skill set to “play”.
However just having the skill set to “play” DOES NOT mean you play the game well. The critical aspect in the equation is how you APPLY YOUR SKILL SETS during play. Therefore, your ER (efficiency rating) or how you operate during actual play is more critical than your PR (proficiency rating) or skill package in a vacuum (outside of game conditions).

This summer I’ve been coaching and having a lot of fun @ the Jamal Crawford Summer Pro-Am in Seattle. It’s no secret that Seattle is extremely fertile basketball territory. The Sonics may have left the building, but Seattle’s basketball legacy lives on through it’s bevy of world -class players, overall basketball organization and grand opportunity for development at all levels. As a city we can be extremely proud of this.
The number of Pros and Quasi-Pros (QP’s) from the area is quite astounding if you really think about it.
The effort alone to develop to such a level of skill is incredible. What’s interesting is that SO many of these QP’s will never reap the reward of ALL the toil and tools -at least not inside the dream of reaching the highest level. If they were at this level in any other field, they would be top executives and players. In basketball they’re but on the list of So many names… and so many near misses. SO close …..yet SOOOOOOOOOOO far.
But why… really!? There are many obvious factors AND the lack of job opportunities (scarcity) at number one. So in a nutshell, in order to make it (as a professional) you have to be the REAL DEAL (complete— according to your description or job duties as a player).
Completeness is essential for desired outcomes.
Such a simple concept. Baking a cake can be a simple process: Follow the recipe…follow the procedures…. whala… IT”S CAKE!! In following the recipe you are including the necessary elements for success. Cake without any particular ingredient (missing) isn’t quite cake. So having all the parts is essential. Still, in order for it to be a quality cake, you have to adhere to a certain process –including proper proportions. Strategic use of the right inputs creates the right outputs. That’s completeness. Anything less in KINDA or QUASI.
SO IF YOU’RE NOT GETTING WHAT YOU WANT FROM THIS GAME….. IF IT’S NOT TOO LATE !(click)
1) Check your skill-set
2) Check your application (of skill set… Are you Know-How or Do-How?)
3) Check your Grit/Resolve (tenacity and emotional capacity) Are you A D D or AD3?
4) Your opportunity (Opportunity w/o PROPER preparedness = NO OPPORTUNITY)
HOW TO MAKE QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS
